WHY I CHOSE ANIMAS HIGH SCHOOL:
Before attending Animas, I went to Mountain Middle School for all 6th 7th and 8th grade years. Mountain is also a project based learning school like Animas but in the middle school fashion. After attending Mountain I knew Animas was the best chose for me. The hands on project based learning lets me engage deeper in my learning as a student. Like Mountain, Animas is hard on ideas and soft on people. This means its a safe environment to feel welcome, but there is also room to critique work in a critical but non offensive way. At Animas I am pushed not only by the rigorous academics but also the ownership students have to take of their work as well as more project work time. It is easy to create student teacher relationships at Animas due to the culture that Animals offers, and by doing so it makes hands on projects feel more like hands on projects rather than boring old traditional school. By doing so I find it easier to really make beautiful work and be able to show it off at exhibitions to the community. I feel like I really work harder on work when I know it will be showcased in the community. It allows traditional school work to have a deeper meaning.
