"The Mountain of Life" Personal Philosophy Project
My Personal Philosophy Written Piece
Deconstructing America: Rhetoric, Ideology and the Democratic experiment
This project was all about finding an issue and becoming more open minded about how the issue can be addressed and solved. By doing so, we learned about the importance of ethos, logos, pathos, and rhetoric. Along the way we learned about the foundations of left wing democrats and right wing conservatives. By learning about the foundations, we were than able to identify the underlying values and in turn we gained a better understanding of what it means to be democrat, and what it means to be republican. Tying that back to the project, we were than able to identify how a democrat or a republican would solve an issue. We then chose a specific issue, wrote persuasive essays for both the side we agreed with and disagreed with (trying to be as non-bias as possible) and then created an art piece to go along with the essays. My art piece is less about the issue I chose (gun control) and more about how important it is to have a “willingness to be disturbed” and to find compromise.
